Dakota McArtor (Pro Staff Member)

Born in April, 1993 in Dallas, Dakota’s earliest memories were of visiting his grandpa's house in Wyoming and seeing all of his hunting pictures and trophies. He knew I wanted to be just like him someday. Dakota started shooting a rifle when he was six, mostly prairie dogs and other small game. As he grew up, he would go with His dad, brother and Grandpa, pheasant hunting. Even though he was too young to hunt, Dakota helped dress the birds and prepare the meat. When he moved from Kansas to Wyoming at the age of twelve and it was a very difficult time for adjustment, but it opened up a whole new world of opportunities. As soon as he was old enough to hunt, he dream was to hunt Mule deer, so his grandpa and dad took him out to the badlands near Cody, Wyoming. Luck smiled on Dakota that day, and by 8:30am, he had harvested his first animal. Dakota recalls the excited look on his grandpa and dad’s faces. He has been hooked ever since. Each hunt that he’s done with his family and Grandpa were special in their own way. They are memories I will never forget. Dakota understands the importance of giving to the less fortunate. With the help of the SCI Blue Bag program, he is able to bring clothing, toiletries, toys and medical supplies to schools in South Africa. This is a very rewarding experience and one, every hunter who travels should make a priority. Hunting plays such a vital role in wildlife conservation. The thriving population of game animals in all continents are a testament to the contribution hunting makes in wildlife conservation. Dakota has been gifted with the unique opportunity to travel the globe in search of the ultimate trophy. At such a young age of 17, he has taken a total of 32 species from around the world, most with the bow. Dakota has just scratched the surface of his purpose within this industry, young man who has many years of hunting and giving ahead of him. With determination and a strict practice routine, Dakota aims to be the best archer he can be. Watch Dakota as we follow him on many of his exciting destination hunts…all this and more…on The Rule!
